Welcome to the Barbara Angelina Escobar Legacy Foundation

At the Barbara Angelina Escobar Legacy Foundation, we are on a mission to empower the next generation of Latina leaders in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). Inspired by Barbara’s incredible legacy of mentorship, community, and perseverance, our foundation is dedicated to breaking down financial and systemic barriers that prevent women of color from accessing the opportunities they deserve.

Barbara knew firsthand the challenges of being a woman of color in a field often dominated by others. Throughout her career, she was frequently the only woman—and often the only woman of color—in the room. Yet, she never let that stop her. She built a successful career in environmental science, raised a loving family, and remained deeply committed to her community, always working to make Tucson a safer and more livable place.

Her story is one of resilience, leadership, and passion for helping others. Barbara believed that education and support could change lives, and she worked tirelessly to mentor and uplift young women pursuing STEM careers. She knew that with the right resources and encouragement, more women could not only succeed but thrive in these critical fields.

Our foundation carries forward Barbara’s vision. Through scholarships and community support, we aim to open doors for young women of color to pursue their dreams, breaking down the barriers that too often stand in their way. We believe that empowering these future leaders will lead to innovation and progress for everyone.
